After years of waiting, broken pipes, illegal exceptions, cores and needed shutdowns, the netPanzer team is proud to present the release of netPanzer 0.8.2
Hi, I'm kromxp (again), and as you can see (in the previous news) I'm the new maintainer, I should be writing the news from now on.
This version fix many of the problems that made netPanzer crash. I still haven't write a full changelog, but you can get an idea by reading the SVN log
Some of the changes include posibility of configuring the starting units, remove duplicated names (it will add a number after the name if there is a player with that name) and the player flags now are not duplicated and doesn't change (before the flags of one player could change when a new player joined the game)
We now have 3 masterservers managed by 3 different people:
masterserver.netpanzer.org
masterserver2.netpanzer.org
masterserver.netpanzer.info
We have a forum, where we pass the days kicking the spambots. You can come there and help us kicking them while we speak about the future of netpanzer. Also if you have any problem with the game, you can post there and hopefully someone will help you.
In the forum we can give support in English, German and Spanish. We created boards for other languages (like French and Portuguese) but we still don't have anyone to answer on those boards. You are invited to join the forum and if you want a board in your language (to help people in your language), you can ask!!!
If you use IRC you can meet us (and idle with us) in #netpanzer in freenode.net, note that IRC is not for the faint of heart, you could join and ask, and the answer could be delayed (say 2 hours, thats the magic of real time communication)
Abitos has been improving his server browser and now is back and running, you can find it here. It can filter servers (full, empty, old servers), generate the minimap images directly from map files, and has a better catching of the servers.
Lohengrin maintains netpanzer.info community. There you can find, new maps for download, a heavy modified server browser (based on previous versions of the server browser) and the most interesting is the ranking, will you be able to get to the top on his list?
During the testing phase, we have been forcing Cellar-Door to play with newer versions, but he is still alive, so we thought is time to release
And the last note, even if this version is new for your, it is old for me, there are many changes already done for next version (0.9) not included in 0.8.2
