i dont know how amazing it would be but i have 10mb download by 1mb upload bandwith that i hardly use all of it and i would like to help support netpanzer by making a new york master server and a ny server for ppl closer to ny to play in. in the past i have done so on dsl but the master server kept timing out and it caused laggs and crashes but me and most of my friends love this game and we want our own server.

If there is anyway for me to start a master server let me know i dont have alot of exp. in linux i can do some basic things i curently am running a p4 2.0ghz 1gb ram server with straight connection to the network ive hosted css servers web server and currently music servers and live web cam feeds http://myfishbowl.hopto.org so i should have no prob hosting this! thnks

If it is a linux just need to install development tools, download svn and compile.

The masterserver code needs changes, but like it is right now it can be used.

The masterserver synchronization feature i don't know if is working good now, what we call a official masterserver is just a masterserver that is in the default configuration of the game.

If you can't create it, i can help, create an account on the linux machine and I can download the sources, compile and prepare for you to just do a "svn up; jam" every time you want to update.

Masterserver only runs in Linux like systems, the normal game server runs everywhere.

For instructions, I tried many times in the past to write a document on how to do it, but I get bored very fast and never finish it, a very basic steps are found in this post, just remove the "-r 1001" from the line and you would have the latest version.

Hello,

to support NetPanzer, i'm also willing to host a masterserver. I got a Dedicated server on a 100MB line and 2 TB bandwith. Server is running fedora Core 8 kernel  2.6.26.6-49. i can compile it myself (probably) but if can always make you an account if you want to do it yourself ^^ .The server is located in the Netherlands- Amsterdam (Amsterdam Internet Exchange - http://www.ams-ix.net)

Ok, I'll be back in a couple of days and then we can talk about the masterserver.

now we can talk anytime about that masterserver, just note, the owner of netpanzer.org is missing and we won't be able to give it a official name. I'm thinking to get some domain just for the names.
