Hello!
I checked out Netpanzers today, and i wonder why all the image- and audio-files are uncompressed. Converting the "grass.bmp" in trunk/netpanzer/pics saves 24k for instance.
40K     grass.bmp
16K     grass.png

Is there any good reason for this? I know that netpanzers is only about 20mb,but why waste space when it's not necessary?

Hi!

Yes, I'm aware of it, currently netpanzer doesn't use SDL_image library and with only SDL the available loader is for only BMP files. Anyway many of the images are in a proprietary format (almost all, *.pak files and the tile set) that I plan to change in the future.

Once the code is changed to use more than 256 colors, we can start changing the images format.
