Let's start with the good news. More than 20000 downloads in last two months (only here in netpanzer.org) is something remarkable. netPanzer 0.8.3 proved to be a robust release and a solid starting point for future development. No bugs have been reported till now (though I know that ally system needs to be re-checked as sometimes it fails... as many of you have already noticed).

Now a little prayer (mostly obvious things). We DO NEED MORE FEEDBACK ! The final run to 0.8.3 ended up to be almost a private thing as only 4-5 persons got involved. That's not good for on open source (and open minded) project like netPanzer which still has a good number of fans around the world. So please write down your questions, opinions and requests here in forum. If you MAKE A REGULAR POST instead of using the shoutbox you certainly have more chances to get a reply. Support (as development) is on a voluntary basis, so dont't get angry if sometimes it takes some time to have questions answered. If you succeded in running netPanzer in some particular OS/Distro/Version etc why not sharing your experience here and helping others?

And finally some tips for newbies.

Contrary to old release, netPanzer 0.8.3 doesn't have an installer (as most software should be for several good reasons). You RUN IT DIRECTLY FROM EXTRACTED FOLDER simply clicking on it. Windows+Linux .zip archive contains two binaries, a netpanzer.exe for Win and a binary for Linux systems. Linux users might have to install at least a couple of libraries (libsdl-mixer1.2 and libsdl-mixer1.2-dev - check in your distro repositories). Also it's always a good idea trying to run the binary via terminal, e.g. "./netpanzer", as usually that gives more information - also  about possible missing libraries.

I remind you all that we have several LANGUAGE BOARDS and we are able to read posts in all listed languages.
Also chances are that you can have a reply in your first language.

P.S. Though I wonder who of us can read Turkish Cheesy

Thanks to the dev team for all your hard work. I just rediscovered Netpanzer after trying it out a few years ago. Family came over for Easter break and we had a blast playing five players over LAN. I did have a problem using bots in the linux version. Complained about wrong version. Windows bots worked fine.

As for testing next version what does a newb need to do to try out the svn version?
